The Whore turns another trick

Hat Tip: Shenanigans blog at Politico.com

Shenanigans has learned that former heartthrob Tennessee Rep/Chairman of the Democratic Leadership Council Harold Ford, Jr. has inked a deal with Fox News Channel as a political contributor.  Lest we forget, they just signed former Pennsylvania Rep Rick Santorum last week – look out Mort and Fred — we see their own TV show in the making. Still, Santorum last week, Ford this week: it’s all about being fair and balanced.

Nobody bet’ not EVER say another mumblin’ word to me again about Harold Ford, Jr not being a corporate whore.   Y’all hear me?   The evidence is overwhelming:  Chair Democratic Leadership Council,  VP at Merrill Lynch, and the coup de grace: a perch on Fox News.   Barack Obama is a true disappointment but his craven machinations pale in comparison to Harold Whore, Jr.   Harold, like Elvis before him, is the King.

Thanx dbl Helix for the heads up.

    Not one more word.

    My lips are sealed.

BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA🙂

    Oh, SB.

    The Dark Sith rises.😉

  2. What Rikyrah said. But you know there’s going to be a Ford kool-aid drinker who’s gonna come here and try to flame this board for telling the truth, so get your fire extinguishers ready.

He appears to really REALLY get around and these days that ain’t smart or cute.

Seriously, he’d better slow down before he becomes a high-profile poster child for the virtues of monogamy.

  4. Ford, Jr, and Fox News? Not a bad combination. I think it’s a good move for him. You better watch out, Ford, Jr. may be the next conservative african american because WE (blacks) don’t want to support him. Maybe if he or Obama wore a Kufi and had no chance to win anything we would love them.

But, being ambitious, articulate, and electable makes his contemptable in our culture.

Which raises the question I continue to ask you, if not Obama, is there a living black man whom you would eagerly vote for?

Already did, Sept 12th, MD-Sen primary.

Hint: vote was not for Steele.

  6. YoungBlackMan:

It’s youngsters like you that want leadership without earning it. The Blacks that Skeptical Brotha listed, earned their way into leadership by being willing not to sell out their own principles and values.

Get off the instant gratification mold and learn your history, son.

Harold Ford and Fox News is nothing more than a partnership between a Whore and her Pimp. Remember that.

And I know a lot of kids at Hampton University that see right through Ford’s BS. You sound like you’re about their age; why is it that they GET IT, and you DON’T?

  7. political junkie,

youngblackman is actually a very, very good friend and colleague of mine. He is about to graduate from law school and get married. He is an outstanding young brotha that I don’t always see eye to eye with, it is probably why we are friends. Believe me though, he cares deeply about the black community. Don’t be too hard on him. 🙂

  8. Denise

I think black people need to be everywhere decisions about resources are being made.

Democrat, Republican, Independent (heeeeeeeeeey), Libertarian, Fat Cats, populists, whatver… we need to be up in it.

  9. Okay, SB, if you say so.

However, he’s dishing it, so he should be able to take it when he gets flamed back.

Disagreement is one thing; flaming’s another, but it’s your blog, and I’ll respect the opinions of what’s said here. But you can’t blame a sista if she’s got your back.🙂

Let us not forget that Jesse Jackson Sr. whored his son from the start. I do, however, give Jackson, Jr. credit for taking that and making the most out of it. The Ford, Jr. comment was real. He’s a perfect fit for Fox News because I see him setting himself up to be a conservative.

As for my study of history, I study Critcal Race Theory in the law and society and Affirmative Action in Education as concentrations to my law degree. I also have a graduate degree in English with a concentration in African American literature. I believe I am well versed in our culture’s history. Please, be carfeful making such claims without knowing me.

And, while these posts are not the proper forum to debate history as it relates to current issues, I am more than willing to open the door to that dialogue at any time.

  11. Scary! But memo to Jr. the FAKE NEWS NETWORK is using you. They will neve embrace you or your ilk. I don’t care how houseish (you like that word?) you look.🙂

BTW, right now my favorite candidate on the Democratic side is John Edwards, if only because he had the balls to dis the FAKE NEWS debate in Nevada.

Obama, I am waiting my man.

HFJr’s close race in TN led him to believe he needs more white conservative support to shield him from the racist attacks. Enter Fox News. I can’t wait to see him and Tiki Barber as the new hosts of Fox (in henhouse) and Friends.

  13. rikyrah

    houseish (you like that word?)

    FN,

    I like that word.🙂

The Dark Sith is what he is.

And SB, I still can’t stop LOL when I read this post. I swear, the Dark Sith brings out the wicked humor in you.

But, Dark Sith doesn’t do anything without thinking 3 steps ahead. He chose Faux News Network for a reason.

  14. Rikyrah:

They allow him to front on Fox News as the epitome of “New Black Leader”.

There are times when you wish that episode of the “Boondocks” in which Martin Luther King comes back to life, was personified; especially for Martin to go on Fox News and confront Harold with:

“I was shot in the city and state where you were born. I was there protesting the rights of the everyday worker. I died to see my dream come to life. And I’ve watched you prostitute yourself to the highest bidder for cash, flash and dash; never realizing what harm you’ve wreaked on the poor and the downtrodden…all in my name.

“You even said at Lane College, that you wished there was no more need to celebrate Black History Month. Son, your brain shows lack of oxygen and brain cells wasted with the putridness that comes out of your mouth for ‘New Black Leadership’.

“I got news for you, son. This shit you espouse is NOT what I died for. And I dare you to look in the face of Medgar’s family and Malcolm’s family and say that…and try to leave their homes in one piece.”

Then the Lord comes for Harold and says, “Thou fool. Tonight, thy soul is required…”

Well, a girl can dream, can’t she?

  15. Too much of this you all make. Every news outlet has contracts with “political contributors,” which is just an exclusivity contract (I don’t know if this will stop Ford from showing up on Imus). I doubt Ford is going to get a show on Faux, or Michael Brown, or any Black Democrat, centrist or not. I doubt even Tiki Barber will get a show. Oh, maybe he will if he promises to do the running man on the opening credits like he did for that Direct TV ad.

I can’t really see Ford taking a tongue lashing from Brit Hume if he dares be critical of Bush. He wants to be heard above all, and Hammititty and those people wont really allow that. I’ll be surprised if the gig works out.

    SB,

“The evidence is overwhelming: Chair Democratic Leadership Council, VP at Merrill Lynch, and the coup de grace: a perch on Fox News.”

I agree that he shouldn’t have associated with the DLC or Fox (Obama has apparently been refusing to talk to them since the madrassah smear campaign they conducted), but I disagree about Merrill Lynch for many reasons.

Stan O’Neal, the chairman of ML, is a black graduate of an HBCU and a top two business school (Harvard or Wharton, I don’t remember). He, along with Dick Parsons (Time Warner chair), Kenneth Chenault (American Express head) and others, represent a significant departure in business as usual in those ranks. How do I know? A friend from college (another black male) is an EVP at Merrill who trained under the chair before O’Neal. But business it is, and they support Prince Harold because they want future access (if they can buy it, we can buy it too).

Now you might say, just because they love and respect power and money, that doesn’t mean that we should. Fair enough. But I submit: those persons never at the table will never be able to partake of the meal there.

  17. Anon #23:

“But business it is, and they support Prince Harold because they want future access (if they can buy it, we can buy it too).”

Yes, they are buying access, but to whom? Harold’s toast on the Hill (and I personally know some Capitol Hill players, not staffers, who are very vocal about that – i. e. other Congresspeople). Most of those he hob-nobbed with, got flushed out of their offices in the recent mid-year elections. It’s not like he can pick up a phone and call Santorum, Tom DeLay’s gone as well, while Orrin Hatch and Arlen Spector are going to act like they never heard of Harold.

All I will say is this: of all the gigs Harold’s hustling, there are two of those gigs where he must deliver the goods or else he gets pink-slipped. That’s Merrill Lynch and the DLC. Here’s why I say this:

    (1) DLC – if he doesn’t reverse their fortunes (meaning raising shitloads of cash for DLC-hand picked candidates in 2008, and getting them elected to Congress and elsewhere), he’ll be “asked to resign”.

Which is code for “You’re Fired!”

    (2) If he doesn’t provide real access to Capitol Hill (the 2006 elections rather changed to atmosphere of DLC dems verses Progressive Dems in charge of Chairmanships on Banking and Finance), Merrill Lynch is going to ask themselves why are they paying him $3 million dollars for access they aren’t getting. You need to remember, Harold tore his ass with many of those Democrats that sit on the Financial Services Committee – and there are many CBC members on that Committee that can’t stand his ass. Also, Barney Frank is the Committee Chair – he will have to get past him as well. And since Congress can’t pass any law unless it’s passed through both Houses, Harold has to work the Senate side as well (where he may get some traction, but he will get stonewalled in the House of Reps.)

And his employers are going to soon start mouthing off about him being on TV so damned much. Sometimes they want a low-key guy who will get the damned job done. Given what we know about Harold, he’s definitely not a low-key guy; he’s a media-spotlight loving hog.

If he doesn’t juggle properly, it will all come crashing down on him, and unfortunately, he’ll be like O.J. – the whites will turn on him and we African-Americans will be the ones picking him up and cleaning him up – so he can screw us over again.

  18. Wait a second

Harold Ford Jr. may be an articulate, educated, ambitious man and those are great things but
    what about some $%#%#^$B %^%^#%$^

    integrity and dignity?

I mean has he watched Fox News?

Has he seen the utter lack of contempt that Roger Ailes and company have for
    the basic tenets of journalism?

Granted, he’s accomplished but when did being an American that accomplishment is more important than principles?
