  1. I’ll tell you what’s on mind.

Your bestest pal, Harold the Whore was the guest of honor at the JJ Dinner in South Carolina.

Here;s from Hotline: “Harold Ford Jr. was the keynote speaker for the dinner, where he gave a rousing speech on the strength of the Dems’ ‘08 field. What he choose to highlight about each candidate served as a telling assessment of the field. He called Joe Biden a great diplomat and said that if GOPers want Hillary, ‘they must not be very smart.’

Hmmm, what makes him the political sage?!? I mean, it’s not like he won.

“Ford said Dodd had a ‘great understanding of how markets work;’ and noted that Richardson ”supports guns like me. ‘

“Interestingly, he didn’t mention Barack Obama and John Edwards directly –although he briefly mentioned them later at the end of his speech.”

    I was wondering, what’s worse?

Condi, still sticking to the lies that got us into Vietraq….

    Or

Tenant/Powell, who, if they had shown any courage, could have possibly slowed down the lying march to Bagdad. Watching Tenant on these shows….I want to reach through the tv, and well….

    the thoughts aren’t pretty.

  3. rikyrah

Non political, but I recently bought Elton John’s #1 Hits, and considering that he writes all his stuff….

    Because of publishing rites…

He’ll be rolling in dough until his last pair of wild glittered sunglasses.🙂

  4. renee

Wow, FNC huh? So since Sean Hannity has “put Blacks in this country on notice”, how will that play out if they meet in the breakroom?? 🙂

  5. rikyrah

    Can anyone figure this out?

    Fits into my theory, hmm.

I don’t know. Tell me, dblhelix, what do you make of it?

  6. rikyrah

I have to say that I think it can be put under the ‘ this is so easy, just do it’ category. Makes no damn sense. Do a few friggin’ fundraisers.

  7. LOL@ rikyrah

    The White Citizens Council?

You damn near sent me on a hunt for some kind of confirmation (because I wouldn’t put it past him).

But then I clicked the link. LOL

FoxNews….White Citizens Council??? Potato, Po-Taaa-to… what’s the difference?

I guess you were right now that I think about it…

  8. Denise

    I agree with you Rikyrah.

The little I’ve seen of Hagel suggests that at the very least: (a) he’s not afraid to say something unpopular and (b) he’s doesn’t allow the press to bum rush him.

I have seen him refered to as a “media whore” which, depending on who said it, is not necessarily a bad thing. If a candidate can manage to piss off SOMEBODY other than black people, I’d like to hear more. LOL

I want him in, if only to get the GOP to begin talking about Iraq as the debacle it is. He won’t win, but to get that conversation out there is what I want.

  10. rikyrah

    dblhelix,

read on other thread about your ideas, so I understand, sort of, where you’re coming from, but doing the CBC thing is just an easy ‘ gimme’ – no problem needed to exist. It’s like the creation of a problem where none existed.

I am wondering though, why you think they both ducked out of the NH debate in June?

  11. rikyrah

    Question:

    Is George Soros actually ANTI-Israel?

    Like Hammas, Hezbollah anti-Israel?

    OR..

Does he just ask critical questions about Israel and their policies, especially when it comes to the Palestinians? i.e., he actually THINKS about what happens in the Middle East.?

  12. dblhelix

rikyrah, you know that I think the fix is in for a 1-2 finish. I think the NH blowoff, if state party leaders are unable to draw them back in, is to not give Edwards a chance to impress against them.

At this point, the only slice of the Dem electorate that’s still a bit fuzzy is the union vote — which is supposed to be Edwards’ strength. Notice how Obama has made about zero effort to court the unions. It’s between Edwards & Clinton, and look for Clinton to sweep about all of the endorsements once they’ve cut Edwards down to size. I think they’d like to see the Black vote split about 2/3 – 1/3 for Obama.

I had to research, but I found your opinions, so I get your viewpoint. It’s just that they don’t actually have a reason for not attending the debate, which I find hanky.

I’m in for conspiracy theorists, but, I can’t buy this one. I know people say that The Borg Queen is logical, but I don’t buy it. I never have – her choosing him as #2. Uh uh.

You might be right about this – the union thing. We’ll see. I’ll definitely keep my eyes out for this.

As for the Black vote splitting that way, um, I dunno.

  14. dblhelix

her choosing him as #2. Uh uh.

I think there’s no choice in the matter. You know how close the last election was, and you know how dependent the Dems are on their “most loyal constituency.” And we all know the efforts the GOP makes to depress the Black vote to squeak out wins.

Problem is that the GOP doesn’t have to work as hard. I can’t speak for all 50-states, but I have noticed here that turnout is steadily decreasing in majority-Black jurisdictions. Not in the more affluent precincts, but in the less affluent precincts, only the older voters are going to the polls. I have all the data, which includes date of registration & voting history, and I can see the results of failed registration drives in the 90s.

Dems cannot afford to lose the numbers (turnout) they have historically relied on. They need Obama to keep Black voters engaged the next 8-16yrs and to draw in new young voters in general.

Just like they’re worried about all of the women they lost in ’04.

As for the Black vote splitting that way, um, I dunno

It’s just an average overall, and I don’t know where the precise number is. — In your neighborhood (I’m guessing) and in mine, Obama will do better than 67%. But I can easily imagine majority-Black precincts where she’ll get better than 40% of the vote.

I’ve been puzzling over why Obama basically ignores the unions, or why (at least right now) he doesn’t do the no-brainer like a CBC fundraiser. This is the only theory that pulls it together, because we know he’s not stupid.

He’s done union stuff in Chicago. But, you have to explain the logic of not doing a CBC fundraiser. My brain’s a little slow this morning….what’s the point in not doing one?

FYI: some interesting articles were recently published by “Foreign Affairs” that some have an interest to check out.

Al Al Qaeda Strikes Back (May/June Issue)
Summary: By rushing into Iraq instead of finishing off the hunt for Osama bin Laden, Washington has unwittingly helped its enemies: al Qaeda has more bases, more partners, and more followers today than it did on the eve of 9/11. Now the group is working to set up networks in the Middle East and Africa — and may even try to lure the United States into a war with Iran. Washington must focus on attacking al Qaeda’s leaders and ideas and altering the local conditions in which they thrive.

Time for Détente With Iran (April/May Issue)
Summary: To tame the growing power of Iran, Washington must eschew military options, the prospect of conditional talks, and attempts to contain the regime. Instead, it should adopt a new policy of détente. By offering the pragmatists in Tehran a chance to resume diplomatic and economic relations with the United States, it could help them sideline the radicals and tip Iran’s internal balance of power in their favor.

If you view it in terms of return on investment, would he yield greater return by fund-raising for the CBC as a whole with no guarantee of individual endorsements or fund-raising for individual members of the CBC and guarantee endorsements in return? Conventional wisdom is that his recent fund-raiser for Barbara Boxer will win her endorsement, which would be huge in CA. I have to think this is strategy and not negligence.

    rikyrah,

I would say the latter, particularly Powerll because his reputation was built on honesty and iintegrity, a soldier’s soldier. His failure to intervene was a betrayal of trust! There were never any high expectation of Condi, so she was just be true to her nature.

    dblhelix,

I have not reviewed the statistics of late, but isn’t the turnout among single White women the lowest of any demographic? I think there are a confluence or reasons why the turnout of poor Blacks is so low, but generally I think it’s a failure to see a shared-interest in the outcome. When you don’t see any tangible change in your circumstances (after voting), doesn’t that lessen your optimism and motivation to vote again?

  20. People on this blog, SB and I tried to warn you about Obama.

He’s a CBC member who’s dissing and distancing himself from the CBC. With some good reason, too.

However, he isn’t the first CBC Member who dissed the Caucus:

Cases in point: “Fat” Albert Wynn, Sanford Bishop, Artur Davis and the Whore all did the same thing while in the CBC – diss the caucus while not having their membership revokec by CBC leadership, who’s too busy courting Fox News in their quest to restor relevancy.

That faction of the caucus I mentioned, infected it and rendered it from being the “Conscious of the Congress” to being the “Clowns of the Congress”.

It’s their own fault, too, because they should have isolated these guys by showing majority unity on issues like the BK bill, and instead, the CBC refused to take a position, period. That provided these clowns cover to cross party lines and vote against the best interests of their own districts, without impunity or consequences from their own leadership..

I don’t know who’s advising Obama – because of his flippity-flops, I hope he has two advisors on his payroll…

  21. NMP

    rikyrah,

NO, I don’t think Soros is anti-Israel. I don’t recall him ever saying that Israel doesn’t have the right to exist. However, he does question how much longer we can sustain Israel as our 51st state. It’s a healthy debate that’s long long overdue!

I make no judgement of your views on immigration, but I only mention it to make a comparison. Just like it’s been far too easy for pro-immigration advocates to label those who simply question the economic and social sustainability of mass immigration from a third world country as racist and zenophobic, it’s been far too easy to label anyone who supports a Palestinian state and Israel compromise for continued US protectionism as anti-semitic.

  22. dblhelix

NMP: I have not reviewed the statistics of late, but isn’t the turnout among single White women the lowest of any demographic?

Yes, 21 million single women who were eligible to vote in ’04 stayed home. Turnout was 10% lower than the national average. The ones who voted favored Kerry 2/3 – 1/3, so this is an important group in Dem planning.

The focus in the media was on white marrieds after the election simply b/c they are reliable voters.

a failure to see a shared-interest in the outcome. When you don’t see any tangible change in your circumstances (after voting), doesn’t that lessen your optimism and motivation to vote again?

This is a subject very close to my heart. I’ve done a lot of walking, asking folks why they don’t vote. The #1 specific reason given is the politician drive-by’s. #2 reason Dubya. Overall, the theme is that it doesn’t make a damn difference. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy b/c voting history is public information — politicians know exactly which communities matter. If your community doesn’t turn out, your neighborhood ceases to exist – so you get no $$ in the budget, no improvements, and if something unpleasant that nobody wants is going to get built, it will be next door to you.

The second problem is that voting patterns are very controllable in the low-turnout communities — it’s old-style Democratic transactional politics. It’s a top-down chain-of-command, and that’s why I’m surprised to not see Obama making nice w/ the CBC. Some of these reps have a lot of control at the local level via their foot soldiers and remember, they are all up for re-election in ’08, so they will be preparing their slates. My conclusion is that Obama does not want 90% of the Black vote. The CBC endorsement racket is not for the benefit of engaged, informed voters like NMP, rikyrah, TPJ, SB or myself. But I have seen for myself in low-turnout neighborhoods, a key person up late at night preparing a homegrown slate sample ballot to be distributed to the voters in the a.m. Often this key person is given some incentive, like “we will sponsor you for a seat on Central Committee.” The way I saw that trick play out one time is that entire blocks voted for a slate of candidates that did not even campaign or establish any type of presence in their community over an excellent Black candidate. It still happens.

  23. dblhelix

And let me just say that if Obama can avoid getting into bed with the components of the Democratic machine like the low-level union organizers or community activists all who work in a self-interested chain-of-command, then MORE POWER TO HIM. I am just skeptical.

What’s up with Andrew Young coming to the defense of Paul Wolfowitz?

How the decent have fallen. Why would anyone even remotely want to be seen, let alone DEFEND the likes of Wolfowicz?

Andy has gone downhill so bad, it’s not even Dark Sith amusing.

Rikyrah, it’s called the almighty dollar.

That, and the fact if Wolfowitz is gone, so is Andy’s relevancy to anything doing in Africa that would require World Bank money (African Grillz, anyone?)

Oh, and the Whore wasn’t in Tennessee? He missed attending Jimmy Naifeh’s (Speaker of the Tennessee House) annual “Coon Supper” (File under “YCMTSU”)

This actually makes sense. Do a quid pro quo – fundraiser in exchange for endorsement, on a member-by-member basis. Ok, I can buy that. We will see.

    Definitely no ‘ freedom fighters’.

You are right. The World Bank was his ‘ in’, and Wolfie was ‘ his man’.

better hurry-up, then! but you’re right — it’s a refined form of the Democratic shakedown. Wouldn’t it be great entertainment to see Obama & Clinton doing single fundraisers all summer long?

  29. Condi will never tire of her role as the First Explainer for the Decider. It’s bordering on the pathological her continued acceptance as the White House Clean Up Woman but I do believe that women in love do this kind of stuff for their lovers.

    More on New Hampshire …

Fresh early state polling from ARG. If this is to be believed, then Edwards is #2. They do not want to give him facetime in NH, given his current strength in IA. That’s my take.

True, but the NHites are a proud and picky bunch. They don’t take being dissed so easily. They already have a sense of self-importance because of the NH Primary, and I’m just trying to figure out their (Clinton/Obama) justification, and how it’s going to fly there.

    dblhelix ,

Obama needs to hire you!!! Your analysis has really given me some new insight. I’m interested in your thoughts on what many argue is the decline of Black power as once large and influential Black congressional districts are now Browning so-to-speak. PG is not YET affected, but if you look at once ‘sure bet’ districts for Black candidates in major cities like Houston, LA, Oakland, Chicago, etc., which are now quickly turning Latino, you can’t help but wonder what long-term effect this will have on the influence of the CBC? Even if many manage to survive in office, will their agenda not change if their primary constituents are Latino? I noticed after the last State of the Union speech, Sheila Jackson Lee talking loudly into the ear of the president that she wanted comprehensive immigration reform…clearly that is her priority as a representative of a growing if not majority Latino district. New Orleans will be a most interesting dynamic to watch. There aren’t any firm statistics that I’m aware of, but there are rumblings that with the droves of Latino construction workers pouring into the NO, it will be a Hispanic city.

  34. rikyrah

Someone brought this up on another blog,
If Obama says that he’s not taking PAC/lobbyist money, is it wrong for him to raise money for PACS?

wow, did he just boost his odds of becoming somebody’s running mate?

    (I’d say yes)

I still cannot get Cho Seung Hui out of my mind. I am still wondering what was going on in the heads of his roommates. I saw them being interviewed on MSNBC. The anchor asked them (in so many words) “What did he say, what did he do”? Response some the roommates by anchor: (in my own interpretation of his words) “He never said anything for the whole two years we were living with him. The anchor could not believe the response from the roommates. “You mean to tell me that he didn’t say damn thing for two years and that did not cause you to want to move out of the dormitory/suite”. Yet in the mean time Hui was making recordings saying “You could have prevented this, this did not have to happen”. “What a life, what a wonder life it was.” I just not get out of my mind how people can live with a person for that long and just continue day after day not give any significance to the mind of the person, or render any type of thoughts towards the aspects of the thinking of this person.
