As I sent in an email this morning at the website:

I happen to be a supporter, and I think the campaign showed poor taste, little class, and quite honestly, the symbolism of it is what disturbs me most. You have 25 million dollars. The guy had done the best job of anyone’s campaign site, and had gone above and beyond the duty.

You can’t run a ‘ campaign about the people’, and then turn around and try and crush ‘ the little person’.

It’s just rank and fowl, and leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

And, it continues to be, another knotch, in the belt of what is becoming a series of missteps where one has to ask, just what the hell is going on at the Obama campaign?

You all are missing ‘ the small stuff’. What should be obvious.

An 800 pound gorilla doesn’t go around smacking around a gnat. It’s just unseemly.

If you don’t know by now, the negative publicity, the ill will you have fomented with this stunt… cost way more than $40,000.

$25MM donated primarily by hard working people who didn’t donate for him to “pay off” a volunteer who appears to have way too much time on his hand and/or using too much of his employer’s time (I shoud talk, right?). Having been a professional web manager a lifetime ago it seems, I would have to disagree that it was the “best Job” of anyone’s campaign site. My 14-year-old son and his friends have far more polished myspace pages. It was ok as amateur sites go. Let’s suppose he was a paid consultant or employee (of any company, campaign or organization)…if he posted incorrect information and violated federal laws by posting Senate podcasts–as he did–would he not have immediately been fired and likely without pay?

As I said, it was misguided for his campaign to allow an outside person or entity to have so much control of his messaging, but it had to stop. It’s fair to disagree how they chose to bring the relationship to an end.

“And, it continues to be, another knotch, in the belt of what is becoming a series of missteps where one has to ask, just what the hell is going on at the Obama campaign? ”

Are they “missteps” unlike any other campaign or magnified because all eyes are Obama? Will you not concede that Obama, like any other Black professional, is being held to a higher standard and afforded far less wiggle room to make “missteps”?

I’ve seen several missteps made by all of the campaigns, but they aren’t receiving this much scrutiny! This is turning into an all out media obssession over Obama, some even seeming to take his actions personally like Maureen Down who I’m convinced has a Mandigo obssession (she’s even started criticizing the man’s wife) and Tucker Carlson who seems to have a homo erotic fixation.

If the media would give equal time to dissecting the other campaign’s, Obama’s “missteps” wouldn’t seem so big.

I didn’t post here the other part of my email, which detailed what I thought were missteps on the campaign’s part.

I ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY AGREE with out that Obama is being held to a higher standard.

This is the BLACK TAX on him.

I’ve said from the beginning that he had to run 2 campaigns – one for all the candidates, and one for him, as the BLACK candidate.

While the other things that I pointed out in my email had to do with him being an African-American candidate..

THIS misstep has to do with the OFFICIAL stance and tone that he has BUILT HIS CAMPAIGN AROUND.

You don’t go having This campaign is about YOU on your official website…

And, then do something like this.

If ANY Republican did what Obama did, we’d criticize it, but the reason for criticizing would be different.

I’ve seen several missteps made by all of the campaigns, but they aren’t receiving this much scrutiny!

Well, Edwards has certain taken his hits over the bloggers that he hired, for his new home, and for the $400 haircut.

    Hillary hasn’t taken hits.

Dowd is a Hillary Hit Woman at the NYTimes – plain and simple. Nothing more to me. She, and that Joan woman at Salon.com are the Media Hit Women for The Borg Queen.

and Tucker Carlson who seems to have a homo erotic fixation.

Now this cracks me up. Tucker’s a GOP flunky whose trying his best to find whatever he can to smear Obama. He’s back to trying to smear him through Trinity UCC.

If the media would give equal time to dissecting the other campaign’s, Obama’s “missteps” wouldn’t seem so big.

    This might be true.

    rikyrah,

Was Joan on Tucker Carlson’s show yesterday talking about Obama and the CBC? If so, you would have thought Obama owed her some money as emotional as she was getting. When Obama comes up as a subject, which is daily, it’s like watching a damn lynch mob. They no longer even feign objectivity. You can tell that Chris Matthews is starting to get uncomfortable with the image of his White guests beating up on Obama b/c he’s starting to throw some negros into the mix on an almost daily basis now. Any validity of their criticisms aside, he knows it’s just looks unseemly, especially when many of the women “journalists” that frequent as guests, like the one from The Politico, are on the record supporting Hillary.

Her name is Amy Stoddard, and she’s from TheHill.com. She’s a regular contributer for Tucker, and yes, she definitely has a bug up her behind when it comes to Obama.

Joan whatshername is a regular contributer to Joe Scarborough,

    BUT…

The editor of Salon.com, which has done nothing but ONE HIT PIECE AFTER ANOTHER ON OBAMA

    Using flunkys like Debra Dickerson.

For pete’s sake, THEY FRIGGIN’ CALLED HIM UPPITY

It was at THAT point, I knew any delusions of objectivity were out the window, and I take whatever they write about Obama with a grain of salt.

I’ll never forget, the night that Joe had, as his lead story, the Obama financial take for Quarter 1, of course Joan was on, and it was like she was reading the talking points memo from Bill himself, about Obama and the War.

Fortunately for me, Scarborough isn’t as Obama obsessed as Tucker is.

I hear you on this one. I was watching, day after day, wondering why 2 of Matthews regular Democratic Women contributers seemed to always be on Obama’s case. Chris Matthews FORCED THEM TO OUT THEMSELVES AS HILLARY SUPPORTERS.

They weren’t just a Democratic talking head..

    THEY WERE HILLARY SUPPORTERS.

He forced them to admit that, and I see that he’s trying to be consistent when he brings aboard Hillary’s people.

You’re right about the Black folk; it’s why he’s having Eugene Robinson, Bob Herbert and Clarence Page on more.

I wrote to Senator Obama about an issue I thought he could have handled a bit better. Not sure if it’ll get past his staff, but I felt better for having taken time to voice my opinion.

i felt better because there was a black man I can identify with who is running for the highest office in the land…and I wrote to give another brother advice!! the next day, I thought, “wow, thank goodness to even have that chance in the first place.” How often does this happen?

Next I thought about all the places in this world where even having an opinion that’s not sanctioned by the govt could get you thrown in jail, or worse. And again, i felt happy that I could express myself without fear of repurcussion. one of the sad things that others here have noted is that many americans don’t exercise their civic freedoms (responsibilities) at all.

Separately, i used to worry about the Maureen Dowds of the world who simply attacked Obama not on the merits of his position — but because they just seem to have a personal vendetta. i worry less about Maureen. in fact i wrote recently to taunt her with the observation that the more she writes, the more Obama’s polls are going up, and the more public opinion of her is going down. I also took the liberty of sharing with her my favorite blog reactions to her latest hit piece, which were all of course very witty and very biting. LOL

    Rick,

Good for you! Input and participation is important even if doesn’t reach him directly. I emailed him yesterday as well via his “new” myspace page. I don’t think there’s a chance in hell he read my email, but I did suggest that he call the guy and make nice so we could move on to more pressing issues, which he did. By all accounts, the guy seemed really appreciative, and I’m sure he will eventually re-lend his support to Obama after his media tour. In the meantime, I agree that Obama needs to get control of his campaign staff. I think taking control of the site was absolutely necessary, but it could have been done far more gingerly. However, I still think this is a rather silly matter to focus on with so many other critical matters before us. It’s sad when this gets comparable attention of the Iraq war spending veto. I’m sure the families of the 100 soldiers killed in Iraq during the month of April alone doesn’t give a damn about that guy’s hurt feelings or myspace.

Maureen Dowd attacks everyone. She famously dismantled Al Gore and loves to repeat the Breck Girl line about John Edwards. Now she’s moved on to Henpecked Obama.

    It’s what she does.

that was a great suggestion! and I see you, me and others have all been busy writing lol I agree that’s great!!!
