Elizabeth Edwards confronts Ann Coulter, the fascist strumpet

Hat Tip: The Hill by Klaus Marre

With the second quarter drawing to a close, the presidential campaign of former North Carolina senator John Edwards (D) on Wednesday again turned to one of its most reliable “fundraisers,” Ann Coulter.

In an e-mail to supporters, Edwards’ wife Elizabeth described why she called in to MSNBC’s “Hardball” Tuesday. The show featured the conservative pundit, who has often attacked Edwards. This week Coulter proclaimed “If I’m going to say anything about John Edwards in the future, I’ll just wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot.

Elizabeth Edwards said she decided to call the show to appeal to Coulter to stop the attacks. “I told her these kinds of personal attacks lower our political dialogue at precisely the time when we need to raise it, and set a bad example for our children,” she said. “How did she respond? Sadly, perhaps predictably, with more personal attacks.”

The e-mail is coupled with an appeal for campaign donations. “Please give what you can right now to help raise the dialogue and show that Ann Coulter-style politics will never carry the day,” Mrs. Edwards wrote.

It is the second time in as many quarters that the Edwards campaign is using Coulter for a fundraising appeal. In March, the 2004 Democratic vice presidential candidate raised “Coulter cash” after the right-wing pundit called the senator a “faggot.”

Elizabeth Edwards is a good one, Y’all.   I woulda cursed the heifer out.  It may not have solved anything but at least it would have made me feel better.  I then woulda cursed out Chris Matthews for his craven ratings grasping.   The fascist strumpet is a mouthpiece of hate and doesn’t deserve the platform.  It only legitimizes her hate.  He is beneath contempt.

  1. SB, I saw the clip. When Tweety told the Hateful Harpy that Mrs. Edwards was on the air and wanted to talk to her, you could see home fries litterally shitting her pants.

Then she tried to spin what Mrs. Edwards was telling her; be a decent human being and debate the issues for once.

With all the hateful spewing Ann Coulter does, one day, some facist, bigot wingnut is going to do exactly what she’s advocating; be it assassination, poisioning or whatever.

And when that happens, the victims’ families need to have a Johnnie Cochran-type lawyer on speed dial and sue this harpy for engaging in speech that incites violence against another human being. That type of speech is NOT protected by the First Amendment, and with that, if such events occurs, this harpy will have the blood of these people who are victims she incites to violent acts, on HER HANDS.

If you want to get rid of Ann Coulter, simply wait until her mouth lands her in trouble and sue to take all of her shit.

She will become Typhoid Mary to the RW nuts who are presently singing her praises; they won’t want to know her when that happens.

  2. I’m with you, Skep. What kind of sad “news” program brings in someone just to incite riots? She obviously has nothing of value to say, so what exactly is her role in our society? A true gadfly would cause people to think, instead of recoil in horror, or lean forward in ghoulish enjoyment.

I’m not feeling this one, particularly since Edwards started on his “I’m the only one who can campaign in all 50 states” spiel.

Ann Coulter’s role in our society? She’s got a hand full of stacks and makes it rain. Whether you agree or disagree with her she is a rainmaker. She sells books, she gets ratings, she even helps John Edwards raise money for a losing campaign.

I stumbled over this interesting story as I was reviewing Mr. Sheffield’s blog. He’s listed as one of tomorrow nights sanctioned bloggers.

Please forgive my posting of any Faux Noise Network coverage, especially anything featuring dumb ass, boy blonde Steve Dousey (sp?) . the story involves a black CNN reporter fired for allegedly fabricating stories..

I’ve seen the CNN reporter in quesiton. I think he interviewed Oprah following her school opening. Damn shame.

  6. She dogged their DEAD SON?

I swear, if it was me, get my bail money ready, because I’d beat that c&^% senseless and enjoy every minute. And, I swear, I’m NOT a violent person by nature.

  7. I’ve yet to figure out a reason Ann Coulter is of value to society…she disgusts me beyond belief! I blogged about her and this situation earlier today, and included more videos than just the one above to highlight what a hateful imbecile Coulter is. Gee, can you tell I don’t care for her?🙂 Okay, rant done…breathe in…breathe out…breathe in…

  8. I don’t know why stories like this still leave me feeling shocked. By now, I should be use to the hatred that is allowed to flow from our televisions.

I’m disgusted by her comments. And that’s putting it lightly.

See you in Sept for the next episode of “Coulter Cash.” What will she say next?

  10. first let me start by laying out who I am. I am a conservative, and on my blog, I call it the common sense conservative, bc I tend to be fiscally, religiously, Constitutionally etc conservative, but I happen to be more liberal on social issues.

So let me go on to say, I’m not a Coulter fan. To me, she’s the right’s version of Michael Moore- they’re both brilliant, but they chose a certain way to try and bring about their point. I find it more devising and filled with propaganda that the actual facts get lost in translation.

That being said, my point to this is, you can’t believe everything you read. What is happening here is a station is taking a quote, cutting it so they get the most controversy, and playing it for ratings. That way, they get people watching, blogging, responding etc. I’m not going to defend Coulture, but here’s the full quote from the clip.

“But about the same time, you know, Bill Maher was not joking and saying he wished Dick Cheney had been killed in a terrorist attack. So I`ve learned my lesson. If I`m going to say anything about John Edwards in the future, I`ll just wish he`d been killed in a terrorist assassination plot.”

What she said here, had nothing to do with Edwards, she was ripping on Bill Maher, and the fact that when he said he wished the VP to be killed, the main stream media didn’t say a thing.

Edwards’ camp is hammering this bc they are the 3rd fish in a 2 fish bowl- they need all the $ they can get (they’re in a similar situation to your funny spoof on the McCain fundraising- bc unless there’s a miracle, both these candidates are dead in the water).

  11. al66888,

Ann Coulter is a malevolent drone of hate and she doesn’t deserve the platform of a national television program for an hour to spew comedic hate barbs at whomever she pleases. You conveniently forgot how she cavalierly mocked the death of John and Elizabeth Edwards’s son, and their reaction to it, as if it was funny and then tried to put off on Azz wipe Bob Shrum.

Bob Shrum has written about how “freaked out” John Kerry was when John told him of his reaction to Wade’s death and his desire to hold him on the slab in the mortuary. Quite frankly, neither John Kerry, nor Bob Shrum are the least bit credible or sympathetic-being the self absorbed bastards that they are.

Ann just needed some justification for being a bitch-she has none. And for the record-Ann Coulter is not some damsel in disress that needs defending.

  12. I’m not sure what she said about Edwards’ son, like I said, I’m no fan, so I don’t pay much attention to her. She’s the rights Michael Moore. Each is entitled to their freedom of speech, as i am entitled to turn them off. She may be a bitch, but obviously someone out there is listening and buying, because she has a platform and she uses it.

I mean, I’m no fan of Edwards, a guy who charges $50k a pop to do speeches on poverty. But everyone is entitled to say what they want, whether we agree or not. I’m not defending her, but more pointing out how things are reported. i think all Americans would be better off if the news was reported as fact instead of agenda. These things just act as more of a divide, one we don’t need right now.

Fascism is a left wing phenomenon. Hitler was a socialist, that is why his party was called the National Socialist Party (which is what Nazi stands for). Hitler created the “people’s car” or the Volkswagen, which is a socialist concept. The KKK are socialists. Mussolini was a socialist too. Europe called nationalistic socialists “right wing” because the old socialists had turned Marxist / Communist. Because of this, there were Communists on the left and National Socialists on the right. The right wing in America are not fascists, they are for the most part Christian Capitalists. Fascism is not Ann Coulter. Fascism is political correctness, atheism, socialism, attacking the traditional family structure in favor of the state (it takes a village), and centralized government, all of which are attributable to the left. Until one educates one’s self about history, one is doomed to repeat it.

I’m a devout Christian and Republican, and this wretch makes me physically ill, not to mention completely embarrassed. Watching that clip, I realized that Mr. Coulter never actually responded to the request made by Mrs. Edwards. She talked over the caller, deflected attention away from the actual topic by bringing up irrelevant, peripheral info, ultimately succeeding in avoiding the issue. “O.K., that was three years ago now”. WHEN you said it is completely irrelevant. It’s that you said it at all. How does disagreeing with someone politically (or even personally, for that matter) make it o.k. to make disgusting comments about someone’s dead child. She only succeeds in making herself look like a fool. Furthermore, Mrs. Edwards was not calling regarding a political issue, so why is it of any importance that she was calling and not Edwards himself. She wasn’t calling to debate partisan issues. A personal request to Coulter: If you love the Republican party as much as you say, please commit an act of altruistic mercy and distance yourself as far from it as humanly possible.
